Getting Started in Telegram

Connect a Telegram group to your community

Before the bot can verify members or moderate your group, you need to link the group to your Tektools community. This is a one‑time setup done by an admin.

  1. Open your Tektools dashboard.
  2. Go to the Platforms page.
  3. Click Connect Telegram Group.
  4. The dashboard gives you a personal link that opens Telegram.
Why a link?

The link carries a secure, single‑use connection token that ties this specific group to your community. It expires after a short time, so generate it right before you use it.

Step 2 β€” Add the bot to your group

  1. Open the link from Step 1 β€” it opens Telegram and offers to add the Tektools bot to a group.
  2. Choose the group you want to connect.
  3. Promote the bot to administrator. It needs admin rights to manage members, create invite links, and remove users who don't qualify.
Admin rights are required

Without admin permissions the bot can't add or remove members or generate invite links, and gating will not work. Make sure the bot can invite users via link and ban users.

Step 3 β€” Confirmation

Once the bot is added with the token, it confirms the group is connected and posts an invite link for the group. From this point on:

  • New joins are checked against your verification requirements.
  • Admin commands (/invitelink, /banandflag, /team_report) become available inside the group.

If you see "Invalid or expired connection link", simply generate a new link from the dashboard and try again.
